About the Course
The Environmental Engineering Program aims at providing Engineering graduates with the advanced conceptual understanding, detailed knowledge and technical skills appropriate to Environment Management in Industries, design of water and wastewater treatment systems, Air Pollution Control Systems, Solid Waste Management, Green House Gas Management and Carbon Foot Print Accounting, Global warming etc.,
- The curriculum is well balanced with exposure to analytical and engineering aspects with practical applications in all aspects of Environmental Engineering and Management.
- Practising Engineers are called to give lectures on a wide range of topics at all stages of the Program.
- Visits are arranged regularly to various Industrial sites, Water and Waste water Treatment Plants, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute and Pollution Control Boards for the benefit of the students.

The students are assisted to undergo practical training for 4 weeks in any industry to gain practical experience and technical skills at the end of the first year. The students are also encouraged to give seminars on current areas of research.
To acquire high degree of technical skills and to translate original ideas into a working reality, project work is carried out by students in two phases. To execute the project work, excellent facilities are available.
There is a huge demand for Environmental engineers in India as the country gets ready to upgrade its infrastructure with growing economic and political clout in the world. The career opens a lot of opportunities in numerous organizations like Indian Aluminium Limited , Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited , Pollution Control Board, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute , Tamil Nadu Water supply and Drainage Board, Chennai Metro Water etc.,
Opportunities are also available in sectors like Gammon India Ltd., Larsen and Toubro Ltd., Engineers India Ltd., Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd., Hindustan Dorr oliver etc., to work as Design Engineer and Planning Engineer. The experienced Environmental Engineers can perform as consultants for solving environmental problems.
