About the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department

The B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (BTech CSE) is a four-year UG program that bridges theory and practice by offering the primary CSE course subjects in the recent trends of hardware and software technologies and their applications. The B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering program is designed to equip students with the fundamental understanding and practical skills required for the potential leaders of the demanding IT profession.

To develop the practical skills of a student, the majority of courses within the BTech CSE syllabus are linked to practical work. The laboratory has a large network of up-to-date workstations and computers, and the network is accessible from the classrooms and student rooms through the Internet. The specializations offered along with B.Tech in CSE programs are Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in collaboration with IBM, Internet of Things(IoT) and Data Science which are courses about Industry 4.0 standards.

Apart from regular classroom study, the students are expected to spend a considerable amount of time on self-study. The curriculum also emphasizes project-based learning, wherein the students work on projects as part of every course that they study. To improve the coding skills of the students, the department has a MoU with Codechef, which provides an online competitive coding platform.  The students of the program are also members of professional bodies such as ACM, IEEE (CS), IET, and CSI.

The students also visit Yildiz Technological University, Turkey, Dongguk University, South Korea, Malaysia Multimedia University, and Ben-Gurion University for semester exchange programs and internships. More than 85% of the students get placed in leading IT companies such as IBM, Infosys, Hexaware, TCS, NewGen, Tech Mahindra, etc.

Eligibility

Eligibility for B Tech Computer Science Engineering (CSE)

For applicants aspiring to study B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), the admission will primarily evaluate merit, assessing entrance exam marks along with Plus Two/HSC/Intermediate/Equivalent exam performances in line with our university norms.

Completion of (10+2) or an equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as core subjects and one of Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Biology, or Technical Vocational as an additional subject. Obtaining a minimum of 50% marks (45% for candidates from the reserved category) overall in the mentioned subjects, with at least 60% in mathematics.

Cambridge students seeking admission to first-year E&T courses are required to have completed the GCE through Cambridge international examinations. Furthermore, they must have achieved advanced-level passes in physics, chemistry, biology/mathematics, and English at the AS level.

Candidates from the vocational stream who have completed their HSC with engineering or technical vocational subjects along with one or two related subjects (physics, chemistry, or mathematics) are eligible. They must have passed their qualifying exams and obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in both vocational and related subjects.

Coder’s Hub I and II Laboratory

CodeChef was created as a platform to help programmers make it big in the world of algorithms, and programming contests. At CodeChef we work hard to revive the geek in you by hosting a programming contest at the start of the month and another smaller programming challenge in the middle of the month. We also aim to have training sessions and discussions related to algorithms, binary search, technicalities like array size and the likes.

IBM CCV Laboratory

Industry collaboration courses like Cloud Computing & Virtualization, Business Analytics & Optimization, IT Infrastructure & Management and Cloud Computing Architecture are offered.

BOSS MOOL Laboratory

BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions) is a GNU/Linux distribution developed by C-DAC, Chennai in order to benefit the usage of Free/Open Source Software in India. The students and staff use MOOL and BOSS and develop many open source components and drivers. Provide internships with IIT-M.

DLink Laboratory

Organized workshops on Networking and Train the Trainer Programs. Staff members are D-Link certified.Realigned syllabus with inputs from D-Link.

Research Laboratory

The center pursues research in the areas of Machine Intelligence and Data Analytics and fosters product development with social and financial value.
