About NCC

AIMS OF NCC: To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and the ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the Country; create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth and finally to provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

MOTTO: The motto of NCC is "Unity and Discipline". 'Unity' implies our basic oneness, the brotherhood of all the Indian people regardless of their caste, colour or creed. Likewise, 'Discipline' is the very bedrock on which any nation is founded.


Air Wing NCC unit of Hindustan University( attached with 1 (TN) AIR SQN NCC) started in the year 2004 has hundred cadets (75 Senior Division and 25 Senior Wing). As a Company under the guidance of NCC directorate (_TN,P&AN) and Wg Cdr Lalit Bhatia. The Senior Division representing Boys and Senior Wing representing girls are given rigorous training inside the Campus during the week ends and trained in the other camps like Combined Annual Training Camp, Launch camps, Vayu Sainik Camp, Inter Group Competition, National Integration Camp and have active participation in both Republic Day celebrations and the Independence Day celebrations at Marina , Chennai.

 
 

Hindustan University had the honor of conducting the CATC (Combined Annual Training Camp) for the past two years (2008&09) in succession.

Bagged the overall championship in the CATC for the three consecutive years


Secured First place in the Drill competition for the past 6 years in succession.


More numbers of cadets appear for Service Selection Board


Represented in Marina Republic Day Celebrations and Independence Day Celebration in large numbers

 
Trainings given to the cadets:
  • Cadets are trained in parasailing
  • Undergo Drills with Weapon
  • Microlite Flying.
  • Six minutes of flying training to all the cadets
  • VSC trained cadets given maximum of 14 hrs Log
  • More cadets appearing for both NCC , B and C certificate exams
  • Cadets undergo training for Aero Modeling and Combined Defence Service Exams (CDSE)
 
 
Achievements:

Recent Achievements:
  • Won the overall championship in CATC'10 conducted at Sathyabama University in June 2010
  • Bagged 8 Gold medals, 2 Silver and 2 bronze medals in CATC'10
  • Won Gold medal each in Flying and shooting in IGC'10, conduted at Puducherry in August 2010

Training activities
The following are the trainings given to the Cadets:-
 
(a) Institutional Training
(b) Camp Trainings
(c) Attachment Training (Service Units)
(d) Air Wing Training
(e) Community Development
(f) Youth Exchange Programme
 
 
The regular camps for the cadets are
Combined Annual Training Camps (CATC): These are held within the State under the aegis of respective NCC Directorates. The camps are of 12 days for senior boys/girls and 10 days duration for junior boys/girls. 50% of the enrolled strength undergoes the camps. In a year, approx 6 lakhs cadets undergo the camps.

Vayu Sainik Camp (VSC): This Centrally Organized Camp is for Air Wing Cadets. 600 cadets (420 boys + 180 girls) from all Directorates attend the camp. VSC is generally conducted in the month of October.

National Integration Camps (NIC): These camps are conducted on an all India basis and help bridge the cultural gap among various states of India. 37 such camps are conducted every year. In addition, NICs conducted at remote and forward areas to promote national integration.

Microlite Flying : This has been introduced in NCC as an adventure activity with a view to give air experience /training to the NCC Cadets (SD/SW) of Air Wing.

Aeromodelling: It is the best way to demonstrate and understand how the forces of aerodynamics work on a flying wing (Aerofoil). Aeromodelling is a vital linkbetween the theory and practical flying training.

 
 
 
About NSS:
National Service Scheme (NSS) of Hindustan University has been rendering yeoman service to the society.NSS has been functioning as a regular feature in the realm of our university education. The overall objective of the scheme is educational and service to the community. It is a student centered programme in which projects are implemened by the NSS volunteers in the community in close collaboration with the clientele community and thereby it provides vast scope for the students interaction with the people.
 
While interacting with the community the students learn many things which they cannot learn from theory classes. The NSS scheme is aimed at developing the overall personality of the students in such a way so that the students emerge as responsible individuals encompassing the virtues of life . NSS volunteers are an asset to the society.Students through the NSS activities are engaged in actual work not only within the university campus but also their services extend to neighbouring schools and colleges. The aim of NSS is to develop a sense of service, team spirit and dignity of labour.The various Programs conducted by the NSS have brought about a remarkable change in their outlook and their attitude towards life and society.
