Third International Conference on Materials For Energy and Nano Convergence
ICMENC - 2013

CLEAN  ENERGY AND  NANO CONVERGENCE HINDUSTAN  INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE (HITS)

ABOUT CENCON:

Centre for CLEAN ENERGY & NANO CONVERGENCE (CENCON) was inaugurated by His Excellency,

Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India, 6th January 2011 is an initiate of HITS, keeping in pursuit of its vision to be at the cutting edge of Technologies. The CENCON Centre will combine different Research Activities that are being pursued at HITS in the Area of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with focused funding.

CENCON is established in collaboration with Quantum-Functional Research Centre of Dongguk University, Korea with an objective to promote Basic and Applied Research, develop products and provide consultancy to the industry in different areas, such as, Clean Energy, Nano-Composites, Non-Volatile Memories, LED, UID exploring the concept of Nano Convergence,

Nano Convergence refers to the unification of most branches of Science and Technology, based on the unity of nature at the nanoscale. Nanoscale is the region where many technologies meet, combine, and creatively generate a world of possibilities. Convergence of technologies will be based on material unity at the Nanoscale and on technology integration from that scale. The building blocks of matter that are fundamental to all Sciences originate at the nanoscale that is, the scale at which complex inorganic materials take on the Characteristic Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical Properties they exhibit at larger scales.

The focus of the Centre will be to develop Nanoscale Electronics, Optoelectronic, and Magnetic Devices by combining cutting edge Nanotechnology with the knowledge from the Engineering disciplines. Nanotechnology can help to fabricate structures substantially smaller, better and cheaper than the current technologies permit.

Through CENCON, HITS will be joining an International Consortium on Nanotechnology Convergence consisting of Dongguk University, California Nano Systems Institute (University of California Los Angeles, USA), Institute of Microelectronics Technology (Russia), Anna University, and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. As a partner of the International Consortium, CENCON will have access to cutting edge Technology which is developed by the International Consortium.

In order to help propel CENCON through its visionary path, various committees are formed at different organizational levels:

  • An International Advisory Committee consisting of Eminent Scientists from around the World including India will set the vision and develop a strategy for steering CENCON into a Centre of Excellence.
  • A Core Committee consisting of scientific experts in the country in the area of Basic and Applied Sciences will oversee the development of CENCON in the light of the vision and the directions set.
  • An organizing committee consisting of scientists from HITS and allied Institutions will be responsible to implement the strategies and for the day-to-day running of CENCON.
